Guardian of the Ossuary Coat
Inspired by the Bone Chapels of the Cappuchin Monks in Rome and Portugal, the Guardian of the Ossuary Coat is made with black nappa leather and red deerskin internal detailing. The skeleton and filigree accent pieces were digitally modeled from scans of real human skeletons and architectural elements. They were 3D printed, then shaped and processed to fit the curves of the coat. This piece has been used in several small film and theater projects.
Every accent piece was digitally sculpted and used scans of real human skeletons and architectural filigree pieces.
Each one is 3d printed and then molded by hand to the shape of the coat and painted. For projects using stunt work that require the pieces to be soft and flexible, Nix makes a mold for each piece and casts each piece in flexible material.
The silhouette of the coat was taken from 17th-century frock coats. This is best seen in the front, but it differs significantly in the design of the sleeves and the back of the coat, with its low/high profile and gathered waist.
